Seeking Depth Institute
for Trauma Therapy

Advanced trauma training for therapists in Richmond, Virginia.

The Seeking Depth Institute for Trauma Therapy offers a specialized curriculum for clinicians working with developmental, complex, and relational trauma. The curriculum brings together four complementary areas of practice: somatic psychotherapy, trauma reprocessing, the development and integration of self, and relational systems.

Our four foundation trainings are offered throughout the year:

  • Tracking the Unspoken: Somatic Psychotherapy — working with what clients communicate through the body when words aren’t enough.

  • Reprocessing the Wounded Child: Somatically-Centered EMDR — remaining embodied during trauma reprocessing.

  • Integrating the Fragmented Self: Self-Triangulation Theory™ — understanding how early relationships shape internal roles and the experience of self.

  • Untangling the Relational System: Action Methods for Families — using psychodramatic action methods and sociometry to assess and work with relational dynamics.

Each training combines didactic teaching, demonstration, experiential practice, and clinical application. The curriculum is designed to be revisited rather than completed once: clinicians can return to each training to deepen their understanding, refine their skills, and discover new applications as their clinical experience grows.

    Tracking the Unspoken: Somatic Psychotherapy
    Fri, Apr 02
    Henrico
Participants will learn how to work bottom-up with the triune brain and autonomic nervous system, practice tracking moment-to-moment physiological experience, and understand how the therapist’s own nervous system functions as a primary tool for regulation and integration.
  • Reprocessing the Wounded Child: Somatically-Centered EMDR
Reprocessing the Wounded Child: Somatically-Centered EMDR
    Fri, Aug 06
    Henrico
This training teaches the proprietary EMDR protocol that infuses Somatic Experiencing into the 8-Phases of standard EMDR. We will focus on renegotiating the nervous system, rather than reprocessing specific trauma memories, by identifying what part of the nervous system the client is in.
  • Integrating the Fragmented Self: Self-Triangulation Theory
Integrating the Fragmented Self: Self-Triangulation Theory
    Fri, Nov 05
    Henrico
This training combines experiential psychodramatic action methods with a practical clinical framework. Participants will practice techniques that can be directly applied in the therapy room—externalizing roles, gaining clarity, and transforming them into functioning parts of the self.
