Many people believe that the way to get the best results out of therapy is to go to a session and talk. There is a belief that if you tell your story, it will make the symptoms go away.

That makes sense because people want to be seen and understood by another person.

But what if talking didn’t make your symptoms decrease?

What if there was a treatment that could support you in making a deeper and more meaningful connection with yourself? And you didn’t have to talk at all.
Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is yoga-based intervention for complex trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It uses yoga shapes to support you in connecting to yourself.
Maybe you have taken a past yoga class and it wasn’t for you?

TCTSY has a different intention than traditional yoga. In some forms of traditional yoga, there is an emphasis on an external standard of perfection. That’s what often feels bad for people. Most of us can’t contort our bodies into those shapes. The reality is, the architecture of our bodies sometimes don’t allow for us to practice certain shapes. And a shape on one person’s body won’t look the same as a shape on another person’s body.

That’s why TCTSY focuses on your own internal experience.

The facilitator makes space for you to safely have your own internal experience. The actual shape doesn’t matter as much as allowing for you to feel how your body feels when you make the shape.

When you start to get information about how your body feels when you make a shape, it starts to feel safer to feel.
When it feels safer to feel, feelings become more clear. When feelings are more clear it becomes easier to make choices based on those feelings.
